I just returned from being Kendrick’s DJ for the past couple nights in Toronto and Brooklyn, and I must say that each of the shows were packed to the brim with people and full of energy. There will definitely be more, higher-quality footage of the shows up sooner than later, but I wanted to drop something that happened throughout the concerts. During his performance he played small portions from a pair of new cuts for the crowd, “Hol’up” being one of them. Props to Brilliantly Blunt for catching this in BK.
Section80 is tentatively set to drop July 2nd (I got the date from Kendrick himself), and from what I heard from the album you’re going to dig it when it does.

Big L – Street Struck Documentary News + Vintage, Unreleased Video Interview

Above is a vintage, never-before-seen video interview with Big L while he was on tour with Biggie, Puff and Craig Mack. For those who have been patiently waiting for any news on the upcoming Street Struck documentary, well, Big L Online and Jewelz, the director of the project has good news: the film is set to release in late August, early September. The main delays have obviously been the bad economic climate, setting up interviews and getting the proper equipment to film. Mind you, they have no big corporation backing them. You gotta give the entire crew behind the project some love and respect as they poured their all into this project. Check down bottom for a BTS look at the upcoming music video (which will appear on the soundtrack to the film), Me And Big L by Mike Boogie (you may remember him from 8 Iz Enuff).

Kanye West – “Runaway”
These two clips – courtesy of CtotheJL – are literally a recorded representation of my view of the entire show (I stood next to C while he took the footage). The acoustics throughout the venue were awful, there were a pair of drunken d-bags screaming into my ear and bumping into me the entire night and I barely had phone reception while I was there yet it was still one of the most memorable performances and shows I’ve ever seen, from Kanye high-fiving the crowd before standing on a platform that elevated him a good 20 feet off the ground to a seemingly happier KiD CuDi performing with a renewed life and vigor. Many thanks to the people at Heineken and Team Epiphany for the hook up.

50 Cent Debuts New iPhone App

Definitely not the first celebrity to launch an iPhone app, and certainly won't be the last, 50 Cent has made true on his promise and has also expanded his empire. The app, dubbed Uber50, features a soundboard of 50 Cent's voice as well as gunshot sound effects (some the rapper seems to be very familiar with).
The app was the result of Curtis Jackson's (50 Cent's real name) recent buyout of UberSocial.
Motorola Photon 4G Coming To Sprint!

Maximus Stiles

Sprint, the network that prides on its long line of firsts in the mobile industry, held a press event in NYC today showing off their latest handsets. What’s special about this particular event is that it marks a re-kindling of a dormant relationship between Motorola and Sprint. While Sprint isn’t the industry first this time, they are winding up to deliver their first NVIDIA powered Tegra 2 handset with Motorola. This afternoon, Sprint is announcing the Motorola Photon 4G!
On a network that has been dominated by the HTC Evo 4G–and with all of the commotion that has surrounded the sequel, the Evo 3D– Motorola has some pretty severe competition on Sprint. Fortunately, the Photon 4G is no slouch. This 4.3″ monster is packing a 540 x 960 resolution quarter High Definition (qHD) display to show off the power generated by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM. It’s also bringing to the table a few things the EVO 3D seems to have lost along the way, like a kickstand and an 8MP camera. Throw in a Front Facing Camera, 16GB onboard with a microSD slot hungry for 32 more and polish it off with Android 2.3, and you’ve got a really impressive piece of hardware that is sure to serve as a proper competitor for the EVO 3D come launch day (sometime this summer).
Since it’s a shiny new Motorola device with a striking resemblance to its AT&T brother, the Atrix, it stands to reason that you’ll be able to snatch up such goodies as the Multimedia Dock and the Laptop Dock, both of which will allow you to turn your phone into the Motorola Webtop. With the Webtop, you are given the “proper operating system” look and feel with a legit version of Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu to surf the web on, essentially making your Photon a fantastic smartphone and a chromebook in a single device.
Naturally, pricing isn’t yet available, but given Sprint’s recent activities, I’m sure you can expect the Photon to live right around the $200 range, with pricing on the docks to be comparable to what is already on the market. With Sprint regaining Motorola as a partner, I have a feeling Sprint customers all over have been given a front row seat to one of the hardest decisions of the summer – Motorola Photon or HTC EVO 3D?
Nokia CEO says all Android devices look & act the same; we disagree
| Posted By |
Maximus Stiles

What do you do when your company is falling apart and no one is buying your product? You diss the competition, of course. Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop, has once again let us know how much he doesn’t like Android.
At the Open Mobile Summit in London today, Elop talked about a wide range of topics, like: how Nokia is doing better than ever (if by better he means dying, then yes, much better), how Android exists only thanks to the iPhone, how he plans to become a carrier’s best friend and how Windows Phone is not doing well because OEMs prefer Android instead.
However, there was one part of his speech that really caught our attention. Elop claimed that Android devices all look and act the same and that “if it’s too hard to differentiate on a platform, commoditization steps in. But then differentiation starts to creep back in through fragmentation.” In other words, if OEMs want to differentiate themselves, they’ll have to fragment Android.
Mr. Elop seems to have forgotten that Nokia will soon be making Windows Phone devices, which allow for even less differentiation than Android. As some of you might know, Microsoft has some very strict rules on what OEMs can change about Windows Phone devices on both the software and hardware side. Android, on the other hand, doesn’t have such limitations. Instead, Google encourages people to put Android on as much devices as they can.
Because of this openness, we have Android phones that range from very affordable to very expensive, from earth-loving to Apocalypse-ready, and from girly to business-friendly. At the same time, all these Android phones are compatible with each other.
Seeing how worried Elop is about differentiation, it’ll be interesting to see how Nokia manages to stand out from the extremely homologous Windows Phone crowd. Will Microsoft give preference to Nokia and allow it to change Windows Phone? If so, how will HTC and Samsung react? We’ll have to wait and see.

Apple 2011 WWDC Day 1 Roundup

Orrett Morgan
Although Apple did not announce an iPhone 5 as many people were speculating, the company used the first day of their WWDC conference to announce a list of new features coming to he Apple product line.
First on the list was OSX Lion which will be available in July exclusively on the OSX App Store. Among he over 200 features added to Lion, fullscreen applications and a multitude of new gestures are also on board. The company will also debut its iCloud service which is similar to Google Music but will incorporate the syncing of all types of documents across multiple devices such as an iMac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, or MacBook Pro.
On he mobile front, Apple introduced iOS 5 which will be coming to the iPad, iPhone 4 and 5 as well as iPod Touch 4th Gen and later sometime this year. The updated OS brings slew of new features to the table including a much needed unified notification system similar to that of Android. There is also a shortcut for the camera button as well as deep Twitter integration, updated keyboard and others.
Apple will continue WWDC tomorrow with the entire event wrapping up on the 10th of June.

Microsoft Lands Big Punches at E3

Both Microsoft and Sony had press conferences today at E3, but as it would appear, so far it has been the Redmond based company that has stolen the show, at least for now. Hot on the heels of exceptional sales of it's Kinect accessory for Xbox 360, the company is introducing larger support for the peripheral including major integration being included in upcoming games such as Splinter Cell and Mass Effect 3.
The company also announced an updated dashboard for the Xbox 360 which will feature the same minimalistic styling that is currently on the Zune media player and Windows Phone 7 OS. Microsoft will be adding IPTV streaming support to the Xbox 360 in the holiday season of this year as well.
But the most exciting news comes to us VIA the games that will be making their way to the console this year and next. Along with the launch of Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, Microsoft will launch Halo 4 next year as well as the next installment of the Tomb Raider franchise. Forza Motorsports 4 is also in the works for the platform though Microsoft did not give any details on it's development during the press conference today.

With the holiday season approaching, technology companies are hyping up their lineup for the thousands of holiday wishlists they hope to appear on. One such company is Sony who has officially announced the NGP (Next Generation PSP) in America at their E3 conference today.
The device will be known officially as the PlayStation Vita and will cost $250 for the regular version and $299 for the 3G version. The device features such things as an OLED screen, GPS and for the first time there will be no physical disks (UMD) allowed. All media on the Vita wll be downloaded from a computer or PSN.
Sony is currently handing out demo units to select developers and hopes to have over 50 titles available at launch.

Fans may question CuDi’s musical direction since he’s stopped using drugs, but why would anybody get backlash for not using? That doesn’t sound the least bit silly? Regardless, CuDi sits down with MTV to talk about everything that’s transpired.
That wasn’t all, though: In April, Cudi revealed that he’d quit smoking marijuana on his Tumblr page. The rapper, who used to call himself the Lonely Stoner, now is experiencing a bit of backlash, but he remains undeterred and is pleased with his new material. “There were a lot of write-ups where people were just sh–ting on it and there were a lot of people who were like, ‘We liked you better when you were on drugs,’ ” he said with disappointment. “It’s kinda like, ‘Man, OK, well you weren’t a fan to begin with so f— you,’ and I like myself better off drugs. So it’s about me and it’s about evolving and it’s about change. It’s about becoming a man; it’s about becoming mature.”
Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne (Tentative Tracklist)

Maximus Stiles

I’m not a fan of unconfirmed tracklistings, but this may be more correct than I believe since Jay has gone on record to say there’s only ten tracks on the entire album. However, “H.A.M.” doesn’t seem to make an appearance on it (unless it’s a “bonus” track), so per usual take this track list (and its rumored July release date) with a grain of salt.
1. Lift Off f. Bruno Mars & Beyoncé
2. Murder To Excellence
3. Illest Mother(f**ker) Alive
4. Why I Love You So (Guilt Trip)
5. That Shit Crazy
6. Living So Italian
7. Who Gonna Stop Me?
8. Whole Lifetime
9. We Are Young
10. Anthem

HTC Evo 4G tooting owners who are willing to snack on Gingerbread can do so now as Sprint has released Android 2.3 for the HTC Evo 4G right on schedule. Those keeping up with the technology world might remember that news leaked of this update not too long ago.
Anyone willing to download the update can look for improvements in the UI as the camera application has been redesigned, internet calling is now supported along with a revamped keyboard and support for new media formats such as Google's own WebM open container format.
Those geeks among us will be glad to know that the Linux Kernel has also been upgraded and the device is sitting on version 2.6.35 of the kernel.

With a long overdue album being released this summer, England's premier rock band has been riding the waves of anticipation. Yesterday the four man rock group released their new single titled "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall."
Chris Martin, the band's lead vocalist who has been known to collaborate with the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye West announced on the bands website that the single would be released in the United States on June 2 while UK residents will have to wait until midnight (June 5th) to download the song from iTunes.
Video: DJ Khaled Feat Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne (BTS)

The intense “I’m On One” track was slated as the most requested by American radio stations when it released. It was one that would’ve remained highly requested if Lady Gaga didn’t drop “Born This Way” around the same time. What’s so instrumental about this track is just that – it’s instrumental composition. Critics have praised DJ Khalid for his work on “I’m On One” and most feel it might be his best to date. He’s featured Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross on the verses to this track. This means when the music video releases it will be explosive with their slick personas. We’ve already heard their verses and know they’re on par.
The problem with the music video is that it’s still in production. While fans wait for that, the YMCMB crew has released “Behind The Scenes” footage of what to expect. Watch it and let us know if you’ll wait in anticipation.
