Keisha Buchanan talks solo music

By Dean Piper
Keisha Buchanan is back on the showbiz scene with her first solo stuff since she left the Sugababes last September. And from the sounds of it her new material has been coming along nicely - she's even producing some of the tracks.
Speaking at the launch of the new Sony NEX-5 camera she told me:
"A lot of the tracks are very tough and are about finding myself as a person. It's about strength and being a survivor.
"I think a lot of people are going to be very surprised. It's great to know there's such a positive vibe and people are really excited to hear the tracks. The record label has just left me to my own devices and they've got real trust in me."
And what of the Sugababes split row? She reveals:
"People may read things into the tracks when they come out but they are not about one specific person or The Sugababes. I wish them all the best." Somehow I doubt she really means that!

The Fresh Committee Presents... "Never Say Goodbye(A Michael Jackson Tribute)
I produced this compilation entirely in 2 days and Max created the CD artwork. This compilation was made to pay respect to the greatest performer of all time, Michael Jackson. Through his life and times, Michael both entertained and touched millions of people. I was one of them so I decided to make this CD simply to pay my respects to the man. Although he is not still with us physically, he will forever live on. Long Live the King of Pop!!! The cd is not completely eq'd and could use work but keep in mind, it was completed in less than 48 hours.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson Editorial

I wrote this piece last year the day I heard the unfortunate news...:/
Ok last blog of the night i promise…I’ve gotta be up for work tomorrow. But I feel as though this picture is self explanatory. I’ve gotta pay my respect to the greatest of all time. Like Michael was a huge influence on so much of the world rather it be musically or in anything else as evident when my favorite athlete Kobe Bryant spoke at Michael’s memorial. I’m going to try to keep this short. When I first got the news that Michael had passed I was at work and my dude Petros texts me and says two things. Vince Carter has been traded to the Orlando Magic and Michael Jackson has passed away. I honestly didn’t believe the 2nd part. Because in my mind I refused to believe that this man who had given me and so much of the world these great times with his amazing music was really gone. Then when I got off like 15 minutes later, I get in the car and I actually don’t turn on the radio and hear the Michael Jackson media frenzy or even look on my phone to see if the news was true. Some how I knew it was true as i sat in traffic so eager to get home i DJ’d my own Michael Jackson songs that meant so much to me throughout my life. Such as “Remember the Times” which was one of the earliest Michael Jackson videos I can actually remember watching debut, I was probably about 3 or 4 years old but I was instantly hooked or “She’s Out of my Life” which really became the theme song of my life briefly when a girl I had developed a thing for moved all the way across the globe or even “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” which was revived in my mind when I heard Chris Tucker singing it on one of the Rush Hour movies. I remember wearing the white suit with one glove attempting to Moon Walk in my youth with my nappy afro. But when I arrived home it was so devastating to see that he was actually gone and there would be no return of him, I would never get the opportunity to meet the man who was such an influence throughout my entire life. But for some reason I feel as though he’s moon walking in a better place. I feel for his family, friends and fans, the world took a major loss but the legacy Michael Jackson leaves is eternal. From 37 weeks on the top of the charts with Thriller to 13 Grammys or 750 records sold world wide, the man was truly a benefit not only to African Americans but to all of man-kind. I could really write about him for days but to say the least R.I.P Michael Jackson. We love you and you may be gone, but never forgotten. ‘Til we meet again…1.

Ten Great Michael Jackson Songs NOT from Thriller
| Posted By |
Unknown

In honor of Michael Jackson we take a look at some of his greatest work. His music. Ok Michael Jackson's Thriller was a perfect a perfect album. From the song Thriller to Billie Jean, to Beat It, Human Nature, The Girl Is Mine, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' they were all great. Seven of the nine songs were released as singles. All of them ended up in the Billboard top ten. Here we consider a top ten list of Michael Jackson songs not including the Thriller album. His music as a solo artist non-Jackson 5 material. But for Thriller, songs from Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory would be considered some of the best music of the last 25 years. It is almost impossible to come up with 10. The list is subjective this is ours.
10. Dangerous
The actual track Dangerous as part of the Dangerous album is great and not commonly listed as a top Michael song. We think it should be reconsidered. Perfect production and beats from Teddy Riley great vocals from Michael. The song sounds great now perhaps it was made before its time.
9. They Don't Care About Us
From the HIStory compilation Michael fights for the under served in this track.
8. Will You Be There
Best known from the Free Willy sound track and part of the Dangerous album. Best lines Everyone's Taking Control Of Me/Seems That The World's
Got A Role For Me/I'm So Confused
Will You Show To Me/You'll Be There For Me
And Care Enough To Bear Me
7. Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough
Great Dance track from the Off The Wall album.
6. Scream
Awesome duet with sister Janet Jackson. Michael firing off at the tabloid media.
5. Smooth Criminal
Arguably the best song from the album Bad. One of his best videos. Annie Are You OK?/Will You Tell Us That You're OK? Enough said.
4. Jam
The opening track from Dangerous. A great song when it was made and as shown in the film This Is It a great song now.
3. Leave Me Alone
Perhaps the most personal song from the album Bad. For the first time Michael addresses his mega start status and tabloid circus around him in song and a great video.
2. Earth Song
Michael's culminating plea for the planet. Heal the World, and Man in the Mirror rolled into one great song.
1. Man In The Mirror
From the album Bad often noted as a great Michael song. We too think its his best not from Thriller. And maybe his best including the tracks from Thriller. You know the words,
"I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change"

Tinchy Stryder signs to Roc Nation

Tinchy Stryder and his management have signed a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nationcompany.
The Number 1 rapper reportedly met Jigga in Manchester just yesterday to ink the big money deal.
Tinchy and his managers will apparently now run ‘Takeover Roc Nation’ in Europe, signing new artists and working with Sony Music and Live Nation.
Stryder himself will still be signed to Island/ Universal. The star hinted at the news yesterday writing on Twitter: “Just finalised a deal with powerful men. Artists holla at me!”
He also reportedly met with Beyonce and Drake as Jay-Z played the Manchester MEN venue.
Lady Gaga: "My Album Is Done"
| Posted By |
Petrø
According to the interview she did with Rolling Stone (interesting cover picture to say the least), Lady Gaga says she is done with her next album.
“I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.”
So what should we expect this time around you ask? Well it sounds like she’s not going to be as chipper on this one as she was with her previous releases.
“Why are we still talking about ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell?’ It’s like, what fucking year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes – and now I’m going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be.”
I don’t think we’re ready for this jelly. Sorry for the Beyonce reference, but are you really ready for another Gaga album already? She says it will likely be out next year, but I doubt she’s going into hiding at all. In fact, she’s already thought of a clever way to generate some press in announcing the album’s title…
“I think I’m gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo.”

Album Reviews: The-Dream, M.I.A and Eminem

While many people "praise" The-Dream for his clever songs and catchy hits he's written for himself and most the biggest names in the game, I've been on the fence with him and this record pushes me further on the side I think he doesn't want me to be on. The album showcases a more hood theme going on here based off the titles alone but when I play them I get where Dream is going within the first 3 bars of the songs but then I lose him the bulk of the album (I'm listening to the deluxe version btw) drags and seem like cut and paste version of his older songs from his previous albums. The major highlight of the album is "F.I.L.A" which I can find about 5 songs from Atlanta with the same title and little difference between the songs. On top of that there seems to be an overdone additions of T.I. he's on quite a few records and thi very well could've been their take on "Best of Both Worlds".
2/5
Visual Artist M.I.A has always been one of my favorites, eclectic style of music fashion and videos. So hearing of this album coming soon I was highly excited to hear it and quite frankly it's still warming up to me. In January she leaked a song called "Space" and I was hooked, then she went on a few tirades dissing everyone from Ke$ha to some news reporter, I was even more excited to hear it building up to the release of the album she caused quite the stir but when I got my hands on the album I had the blankest expression on my face. The album far from terrible and a lot better than most records out now still seemed to miss something "XXO" and "Born Free" are the current singles and have a lot of momentum behind them as well as album cuts "Tell Me Why"and "Lovalot" but the rest of the album seems like it's missing something that M.I.A usually brings to her music, however the album is pretty good and worth the listen.
3.5/5
He's back, he's back GOT DAMNIT EMINEM IS BACK! I haven't gotten into any of his records since "The Marshall Mathers LP" and frankly I never saw a need to. This record is probably the best work he's done in years and he finally heard my advice that he and P!NK should duet, which is by far my favorite then theres the the opening track "Cold Wind Blows" glossed by Just Blaze "Going Through Changes" that keeps my head nodding and "Seduction" thats just hot beyond all means. This album it self solidifies what was voted by VIBE magazines readers as the best rapper alive. He embodies everything these other rappers claim to be he takes a superb flow, well thought lyrics, great music and wraps it up and gives you the greatness known as "RECOVERY". I was definitely not expecting to like this album and shit I love it. worth ever penny.
