Many years ago, I use to play Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64... A game that helped revolutionize FPS as we know it. Many years passed, I graduated high school and just before I finished my undergraduate studies, I stumbled upon Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. To make a long story short, I've been an avid Call Of Duty player since 2007. However, a major crisis presents itself. Activision (The owners of Call Of Duty) recently fired Infinity Ward (The makers of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2) and Treyarch (Makers of Call Of Duty 5) is being kept around to produce future Call Of Duty installments. My gripe with this is that Treyarch SUCKS! My biggest issue with Treyarch is that they always make games that center around past events, as evidenced by Call Of Duty 5: World At War and their newest concoction, Call Of Duty: Black Ops, which takes place during the Cold War era. Pardon my french but, NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY WITH OLD ASS GUNS ANYMORE! Past war themes have been beaten into the ground with sticks, rocks, sledgehammers and platform shoes among other objects... Gaming corporations need to realize this and move on.
With that said, I'm dreading the thought of staying loyal to the Call Of Duty franchise. After doing my research and seeing what other FPS franchises have to offer, I'm strongly considering taking a hiatus. I've been advised by a few friends to look into Halo: Reach, seeing as how I never really got into it before. Based on it's excellent track record, I'll probably have to give Halo some consideration. Personally, I'm most excited to see what Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has to offer... But everyone has their own preference and opinion. Here's a look at 4 of the most promising FPS games that are set to be released during the last quarter (September-December) of 2010... Oh yeah, and unless you're banking and can afford to spend 60+ dollars on each title, it's probably going to be a tough decision.
