Today Facebook and Skype announced that both services will be integrated on a much deeper level starting today. Starting with Skype 5.5 BETA for Windows, Facebook chat will come to Skype. Users of Skype will also be able to find the Skype handle of their Facebook friends. Skype users can also update their Facebook statuses from the Skype client just like in the previous version of Skype (5.3).Even bigger is the announcement that Facebook.com will get video calling powered by Skype. Users will be able to make video calls to their online Facebook and Skype contacts right from the browser. The BETA client is available for Windows users. No word was given about an updated client for mac, but it is expected that such an update is in the pipelines.
In related news, Facebook announced that they have crossed the 730 million user mark.
