Album Reviews: Jessica 6 and Tyler, The Creator

New York based trio Jessica 6 makes you want to dance on their highly anticipated debut album See The Light, the 14 track set features soulful Cher/Sade like vocals from the bands front-woman Nomi on 70's funk and disco beats catered to you buy bassist Andrew Raposo and keyboardist Morgan Wiley that'll make any NYC club kid (or any other downtown metropolitan partier for that matter) get down. The album opens up with the lead single White Horse a soulful down tempo disco house gem which has Nomi crying to "See you dance" in her melodic alto, other exciting cuts on the album are the funky Prisoner of Love and the dynamic yet somber Not Anymore which  showcase the albums more vulnerable side and the sensual interlude Jessica Jessica. The album is due out on the 23 of May via Peacefrog

My first time ever hearing, well watching Odd Future rapper Tyler, The Creator I thought : This is what an exorcism feels like. I was scared out of my mind couldn't believe what was on my T.V. screen, and the sudden internet hype around him turned me off to the idea of him completely. But I decided to give this album a fair chance and I must say, it isn't as bad as I predicted the type of Hip-hop he does isn't my taste but the production and wordplay is quite cool especially on tracks Her, Sandwitches and Nightmare. The album is different from most records out that talk of the holy trinity of rap music of which we're all aware of. Despite the left field-ness of the record (I listen to a lot of strange shit but this is even strange for me) it brings a wholeness in the finished product which works. Goblin is in stores now on XL recordings
