Drake Destined To Top Album Chart With Near-Gold Debut

He can thank them now or later, but Drake will be thanking his fans big time next week.
Drizzy’s long-awaited debut album, Thank Me Later, is projected to sell between 450K-475K, according to industry experts using the album’s first day sales to form their projections, making the set a near-gold (500,000) seller in just a week.
According to Billboard, the album is also a lock for a No. 1 debut.
Since the numbers are only projections at this point — the final numbers could end up being much more or much less (as Christina Aguilera learned this week) — it’s hard to say exactly where Thank Me Later will fall in terms of 2010’s top-selling debut weeks. Regardless of its placement, the album will be among the top crop, which includes Sade’s Soldier of Love with 502,000 copies and Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now with 481,000 copies.
