It's clear that my cohort blogging buddy, Petros is biased in his review of Drake's album, "Thank Me Later". Petros' album review largely consists of him taking jabs at Drake as an artist instead of the actual album. I had my suspicions before but now I'm %100 certain... Not only do I think that Petros is biased, I firmly believe that he just flat out doesn't like Drake. He tries to mask his disdain for Drake by calling him talented and a not bad rapper (in so many words)... But then Petros goes on to say that Drake is not genius, not an entertainer and even has the nerve to call his album dull! Wow... Where should I even begin?
In an age where the radio waves are dominated by the likes of Gucci Maine, Wacka Flocka and various other idiotic artists in the same mold, Drake dares to be sophisticated. Up north music isn't selling anymore (Unless your name is Sean Carter) or unless you have a club banger, you aren't getting any dub. Isn't it odd how this random Canadian guy steps on to the scene and immediately earns the respect of arguably the two hottest rappers on earth (in the public's eye)? I wonder why both Jay-Z and Lil Wayne would be d*ck riding him if he weren't both a lyrical genius and an exceptional entertainer. I could go further but I'll leave there...
I mean, I literally got angry when I read this album review! Contrary to Petros' opinion, I found Drake's album to be quite entertaining. The album is rather mellow but some people can appreciate this quality. Petros neglected to point out how clean and well produced "Thank Me Later" is. Another thing that I love about this album is that it isn't cluttered with tracks that feature wack, unnecessary artists... with the exception "Shut It Down" featuring The Dream, lol. Also, Petros didn't bother to post any highlight tracks like he did for Travie McCoy's album... But that's fine, I will. I can't allow this album to be overlooked on my watch. I give this album a 4/5 while giving the homie Petros 2 thumbs down for hatin', lol.
Highlights:
"Fireworks"
"Light Up"
