Chris Batson is a Florida aspiring artist/producer and White Lies is his debut mixtape. I had the privilege to preview a number of the tracks before the mixtape was released today and I was instantly impressed by the distinct sound and feel to Chris’s material. His production style can be described as one similar to Kanye West post-808’s & Heartbreak with a dash of Timbaland. Throughout the mixtape, Chris transitions seamlessly between rapping and singing. Chris has a very original feel to his material, in songs like “Did I Do That” in which Chris borrows vocals from everyone's favorite nerd from everyone's favorite 90s sitcom in which he attempts croon his way back onto a females good side. The title track “White Lies” features a great combination of Chris displaying his lyrical, production and vocal ability to explain how he feels about a situation in a relationship. Overall the mixtape is great and is definitely worth downloading. I would recommend you do that right about now, whether your a fan of hip hop, r&b or pop, there is something on this mixtape for everyone
