Apple iPad Killer: The HP Slate

If you are thinking about purchasing an Apple iPad, I would definitely wait and take a look at this...

Now before you go on a rant about how great Apple is and how superior their product is. Let me explain some differences between the iPad and the Slate and what makes the Slate a better buy. I had the chance to test out the Apple iPad and it was a VERY innovative product although it still is a very "been there, done that" experience if you are familiar with the current iPhone and iPod touch offerings. The same lack of features which plague the iPhone also plague the iPad such as lack of multitasking in 3rd party apps.

Actually instead of pointing out the flaws in the Apple iPad i would rather point out the great features in the HP Slate. The HP slate will make a perfect replacement for a computer as it runs a full out version of Microsofts critically acclaimed Windows 7 operating system. This means you will be able to multitask as much as possible and this is truly a desktop caliber machine, while the iPad should not be used to replace your desktop but rather to compliment it. The Slate has a larger screen and is also lighter than the iPad. The Slate also comes with a 3G enabled tray while the iPad version with 3G enabled costs $629 and up. The Slate also comes with a camera on the front to allow you to video conference. It also has a camera on the back for your standard picture taking. This will provide the best mobile Skype or ooVoo conversations available. The slate also supports flash support which is something Apple has omitted from all of their mobile devices. The screen on the Slate is slightly lower resolution than the iPad.

It will be interesting to see which tablet takes the gold seeing as though the iPad does have a headstart and they will also be joined by a number of tablets running the increasingly popular Android operating system.
