Album Reviews: Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Kanye

\
The 5th album from Rihanna is probably her second most consistent record she's released (2nd to Rated R). The album flows angelically with a more pop oriented than rather the Italo Disco sound  that seems to be rocking the radio the standout track featuring Drake "What's My Name" went #1 on billboard, while other highlights include the Shontelle penned "Man Down", "Skin" and "Love The Way You Lie pt.2". There are some downers to the record and if I weren't writing this review I'd probably not even remember the names, The Minaj assisted "Raining Men" is probably one of the worst songs I've heard this year. This album has convinced me Rihanna is now a legit singer, she can crankl out a decent album hot videos and some good photos. However I still will never see her live in concert.

Probably one of the biggest jokes played on hip-hop music. . . I'm kidding. However the most gimmicky hip-hop act since MC Hammer has finally released her anticipated debut album Pink Friday a play on the popular holiday Black Friday. The Harajuku Barbie mixes up her schizoraps with her alien like fashion since to give you a hip-hop album? One would expect for Minaj to release a more playful album given her style and album title. Despite how serious her album is it's still nowhere near solid (despite debuting #2 on the album charts). There are songs like "Dear Old Nicki" a letter to her old self in the form of song which is quite touching and deep something you probably wouldn't expect from the girl who said "maybe they didn’t get that here like 11 hundred horses when I switch that gear swerve on them sorta like I missed that dear press that little button on the sit back chair" whatever the hell that's about. then there are the songs like "Right Thru Me" her attempt to be deep but still being as shallower than an inflate-able kiddie pool. You can't deny Nicki's talent to spit a hot 16 but an album is still something she shouldve took more time to craft.

When this album was announced I was excited, when the extensive guest list I panicked and almost lost interest. Kanye drops G.O.O.D Friday tracks I was in the middle He drops the  35 minute long Runaway film I pre-ordered the album. Possibly one of his better albums this album like his previous 808's & Heartbreak , did what I love albums to do tell a story, paint a picture and give you a movie in your head. Some of the highlights include Monster, So Appalled and Dark Fantasy. The album is truly a dark twisted fantasy. Album of the year period.
