Talks of New Trey Songz Album... ALREADY?

Trey claimed he "needed a girl" to share his new "invention" with... As if he was having issues pulling ladies before the arrival of his latest album (Ready). It's safe to say that Trey Songz has taken a major step towards becoming a household name and has served as a breath of fresh air to the music industry. I speak for many when I say that it couldn't have come at a better time. In the wake of Chris Brown's legal issues, Ne-Yo's painfully bad "Year of the Gentleman" album and just a general lack of originality amongst male R&B artists, in comes Trigga Trey to save the day with possibly one of the smartest marketing schemes I have ever witnessed. He hit us with a plethora of album-worthy mixtape material while managing to aggravate yet intrigue fans by effectively postponing his actual album for months on end. It was a brilliant tactic. A buzz was created. His fan base was suddenly growing. The stage was set... and he did not disappoint.

In an interview with Kevin Liles (Trey Songz' manager), it was revealed that a September 14th date was set for a new album. However, based on Trigga's track record I wouldn't hold my breath. His current records are still in heavy rotation and he has quite a few things on his "to do list". Sources have confirmed that he has a theater tour slated for August and that he's performing at the BET Awards. Also, he recently tweeted about how much he enjoyed his MTV Unplugged experience. He's even co-starring in an upcoming reality show with Young Jeezy! Pretty random, huh? In a nutshell, the man has his work cut out for him. At this point, just hearing that a new album is in the works is good enough for me.
